Nasa starts a new "Uncommon Approach" blog

Some of you may have been keeping up with Nasa's "Uncommon Approach" on TheFindMag.com for the past 2 years or so.  If you have, we wanted to let you know that it's moving to it's own site at www.uncommonapproach.tumblr.com.  For the Tumblr aware, you already know that you can follow the blog (similar to twitter following) on Tumblr so that you'll never miss an update (and we encourage you to).

The blog will continue to focus on Nasa's behind the scenes successes and struggles with running Uncommon Records along with his opinions on the independent hip hop music business.

The blog already has more then 30 informative posts on it, collected from his time at The Find, some other independent blogs he's written for other sites as well as a hand picked selection of re-vived music biz related posts from the old Prog Blog that was formerly at the Uncommon site here.

Check it out!

New Interview with Nasa at Audible Hype

Nasa just sat down for an interview with Justin Boland over at Audible Hype and broke down some of the behind the scenes business at Uncommon.  Topics include Uncommon Radio, Uncommon's recent merch efforts, new signees to the label, pushing toward touring this year and lots of tips for other musicians and artists just starting out in the music wilderness that is 2011.  It's a follow up piece to another great conversation with the site from two years ago.

Nasa becomes a Senior Contributor to BeatTips.com

Nasa is now a Senior Contributor to BeatTips.com.  That means he will be exclusively contributing to their blog about Beat Making, Studio Techniques and also on the Music Business side of things.  He'll be posting there about 8 times a month and you'll be able to hear his opinions on current releases, production techniques, sampling issues as well as studio session stories, recording equipment and more.  He'll also be touching on some of the trials and tribulations of running Uncommon Records.

BeatTips.com is an amazing website that is deep with knowledge for any aspiring or established producer/beat maker.  It is rooted in a firm support of the historical recognition of hip-hop and sampling.  The core musical ideals that Nasa and Uncommon support are on display there regularly and that's why Nasa chose this site to be a part of.  Tied to the site is also a great book called The Beat Tips Manual which features in depth writing about that history and about specific techniques.  Along with that it also features interviews with Marley Marl, Buckwild, D.R. Period, DJ Premier and more!

We encourage you to check it all out with Nasa's first post on the site right now.

Music Business Interview with Paul "Nasa" Loverro

Check out the latest interview of Uncommon Records' Founder & Owner Paul "Nasa" Loverro on AudibleHype.com.  Nasa lays out a lot of what you need to know to run an indie label in 2009, brings you behind the scenes at Uncommon on the business side and tells his personal story from starting out as a Recording Engineer after High School up until this very day.  It's a must read.  Peace to Justin at World Around & Audible Hype for putting this together so well.
