With a sound that can best be described as quintessential hip hop, Pruven delivers thought-provoking, razor-sharp lyrics that just might cause folks to stop nodding their heads long enough to write an e-mail to their Congressman. The Connecticut-based emcee brings a soulful respect of hip hop’s heyday to the present-day scene, leaving listeners wondering why they haven't been listening to Pruven for years.
With a wide array of influences that span multiple musical genres, Pruven’s style is challenging. He takes on topics from hip hop's poli-tricks, the wonders of ancient history, space and religion to the Illuminati and a one-world government. Simply put, his eloquent lines will make you think and hit repeat to listen closely to what he’s saying.
After independently releasing the full-length First Words Earn Everything in early 2010, Pruven immediately became a familiar name with hip hop heads. He soon after cemented himself as a staple in the North East & New York hip hop scenes, working with like-minded cohorts including Mr. Lif and L.I.F.E. Long.
Pruven signed with Uncommon Records in 2011, releasing the 14-track Eccentric Cohesion, which featured appearances by Billy Woods, Adam Warlock and Rising Sun Quest. His next release, Stamina of Thought, a 12-track LP from Uncommon has no features—it’s all Pruven—and be assured he has plenty to say. It's slated for release in January 2012.
